The Curtin Engineering Merit International Scholarship is available to international students who have completed their first semester of study at Curtin University in 2011 in an eligible course (please refer to the Applicant information PDF attached for a list of eligible courses).

Applicants will need to have demonstrated high-level academic achievement in their studies at a WA College for example Canning College, Tuart College or Murdoch College and obtained a Tertiary Entrance Ranking or equivalent in 2010.

We are looking for students who are enthusiastic about agriculture. Can you answer these questions with YES?

You are enthusiastic about agriculture and agricultural engineering?You are a student on the fields of Engineering, Agricultural studies or Economics?You have written your bachelor thesis or student work in 2010/2011?

What do you submit for your application?
The main item of your application is your written project.
Your project should be linked to agricultural engineering or have any other connection with agriculture and its related industries.
Possible topics: Agricultural Engineering, Bio- systems technology, green biotechnology, machinery management or other interesting agriculture related technical projects

Projects from students just starting their university degree course are most welcome. You may write a report (e.g. seminar essay, progress report) on your future vision of agriculture or the agricultural industry, e.g. new ideas for farming practices or solutions to current problems in the field of agricultural engineering.

You may also apply with your bachelor project report or thesis. If you are currently registered on an appropriate higher degree programme (taught MSc, MSc by Research, MPhil or PhD) you may submit a piece of work such as a project report, taught MSc thesis or synopsis of your research project.

A total of four scholarships will be awarded in 2011:
1st prize: Funding amount of 4,800 Euro (400 Euro/month for a total of 12 months)
2nd prize: Funding amount of 3,600 Euro (300 Euro/month for a total of 12 months)
3rd prize: Funding amount of 3,000 Euro (250 Euro/month for a total of 12 months)
4th prize: Funding amount of 2,400 Euro (200 Euro/month for a total of 12 months)

Furthermore, bonus prizes of 1.000 Euro each will be awarded in the categories innovation, extracurricular engagement and technical engagement. The bonus prizes are directed to bachelor students who do not plan to continue with a higher degree program.

Evaluation criteria
The various submissions will be judged on the basis of:
1) Creativity in respect to originality
2) Realisability of result and practical relevance
3) Result of project
4) Significance of the subject for agricultural engineering and farming
5) Structure and design of the project
6) Extracurricular activities/ voluntary work

Factors such as internationality, interdisciplinary, your curriculum vitae and professional expectations will be considered in the evaluation process.

Your application should consist of the following:
1. Your piece of work (either in German or English) in both digital form (CD/DVD) and hard copy.
2. A brief summary of your work (ca. one page).
3. A covering letter where you also state your estimated graduation date.
4. Curriculum Vitae (including information on traineeship, work abroad etc.) and a summary of your interim study marks and results.
5. Written confirmation from your university that you are registered on an appropriate Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree program.
6. Recommendation letter of your tutor/professor would be helpful.

This award is open to candidates undertaking academic research in any Romance Literature, Language or Dialect. Preference may be given to those working in language studies.

Eligibility
The award is tenable by postgraduate students who are graduates of the University, registered as candidates for an intermediate or higher degree in the University, or will be registered as such in September 2011.

Students who will be entering their 4th year of PhD study in September 2011 will not be eligible to apply. Applicants must normally be graduates of not more than five years’ standing.

The award, which shall not exceed £2,300 per annum, is advertised annually with applications for renewal being considered on an equal footing with new applications.

Who is eligible?

All international fee-paying students.Students who have completed 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with good grades.Students must have a minimum English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 for specified degree programmes.Students must be a minimum of 17 years old.

General information
Successful applicants will receive a scholarship worth half of their tuition fees which will be deducted from their INTO Foundation programme tuition fees.

Upon successful completion (and subject to achieving specified grades for entry), students entering degree programmes at Newcastle University will receive a further half of their Foundation tuition fees (which will be deducted from the University’s Year 1 tuition fees).

Complete an INTO Newcastle University Academic Application form stating which Foundation programme you would like to apply for. The completed form should be returned to INTO Admissions along with copies of your academic transcripts and evidence of current English language level.

Complete a Newcastle University Foundation Scholarship application form including a personal statement explaining why you want to study at Newcastle University and how the degree programme will help you in the future. The statement must be typed in English and be no more than 200 words.

International students may apply for TMU Scholarships. We accept applications for TMU scholarship along with admission applications. Students’ previous academic performance, extra-curriculum activities, work experience, financial situation and other achievements will all be considered as crucial for first year scholarship. Students will begin to receive their scholarship after they have enrolled and registered at TMU. Scholarship recipients will receive their scholarship starting from September to August of next year. Recipients will need to re-submit applications for scholarship each year. Students’ academic performance, international students’ activity attendance, working project attitude and financial condition while attending TMU will be taken into consideration for scholarship eligibility each year.


The types of scholarships available

Scholarship A): Tuition waiver plus monthly stipend of NTD25,000 for one year, scholarship recipients need to pay their insurance, rent and living expenses by themselves or from their monthly stipend.Scholarship B): Monthly allowance NTD 25,000 for one year, recipients need to pay tuition and fees, insurance, rent and living expenses by themselves or from their monthly stipend.Scholarship C): Tuition and Fees waiver, no monthly allowance. Recipients will need to pay for their insurance, rent and living expenses.

There are 10 scholarships. At least two are reserved for MRes candidates.Be an international applicant for MSc or MRes postgraduate studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for 2011 entry. The scholarship is worth £2000 and will be in the form of a discount in tuition fees. The taught postgraduate scholarship is for one year only and cannot be deferred to a later year. All our scholarship holders are chosen for their academic excellence. We will also use the information you provide in the separate scholarship application form to judge your application together with your original course application.If you already have a partial scholarship from another organisation (including another University of Bath scholarship such as a University or Alumni award) for part of your tuition fees, you can combine this scholarship with another one provided that it does not equal more than the cost of your tuition fees.


However, we will not give a Graduate School Scholarship to anyone who already has a full award (from another organisation) to pay for their tuition fees.If your financial situation changes, then the University reserves the right to reconsider the award. For example: in the case that you were awarded a full fee scholarship from another organization you would no longer be eligible for the Graduate School Scholarship.
